Exceeded Limited Endurance
Hmm.. Today dragged myself to work.. Ya I overslept. But is dun feel like getting out of bed. Thinking is this place worth every bit of my energy. Think of money, no choice. Cheer myself up a little that everyday is different.
Hmm.. At 9.30am went for some fire talk juz bcoz tomorrow there will be fire drill in the morning. Hmm.. The talk was 2 hours and a blessing to be away from my desk so that I dun have to see the people in my team.
Hmm.. After the talk went down. Boss ask for the budget list. Print out and give it to him.. As when I walking back to my desk, HR called me.. Hmm.. Went to see Pamela.. But she just walked away. Talk to Shu Hua. She told me my team mates went to make a scene at HR. Mood dwells!!
Shu Hua:
Renee, just now when you went to the fire talk, yr team mate - Kess and Tanya, came in to say that you want to clear your block leave from this thurs to next week. Then they say you ignore them and insist of taking. Did anything like that happen?
Me: (Kept quiet awhile)
Shu Hua, Remember last Tuesday I asked you how many days of leave does my team entitled to. You replied me is 5 days and best to clear it before Jan ends but latest you all give is till Feb end. I forward the mail to all my team members. Do you think I am in the wrong to clear with CNY period as Jan month end is Next week.
Shu Hua:
Ya I remember that. But they just now complain directly to Pamela (This is HR Manager). I can't help you. I am so sorry. What about working with them?
Me:
Its ok and not your fault. Earlier we were in the fire thing. How can you help me? Lol.. Working with them wasn't happy at all. First few days came in, lucky is got Jane around. So any doubts, she is there to guide me. But now she not around. When I have doubts, I asked Tanya who works quite closely and whom Jane proclaimed that Tanya was taught by her.. So its very obvious that Tanya knows Jane's work.
But the reply I got was, she's busy, she's on the phone or simply no reply. When I tried aske the 2nd time, she say she dunno when the first time is a no reply. When she's busy or the phone, I apologise for not realising she using phone then I stand aside to wait for her to attend to me. She snub at me saying, can't you go back to your seat. Then I tell her say I need to do this up urgently. I waiting for you to be free. So tat I won't sit at my com and do nothing.
Shu Hua:
How can she like that!! You are new and not that experience. How can she treat you like that... Really too much lo.. Did you tell your boss about it?
Me:
Tried to tell him but turn on deaf ears. I really dunno what to do. I even ask her who can ask since she dunno, she ask me go ask boss.. Another issue was that time block leave and we were ask back to work.. Things are still fine.. But was called back to work on a Sat tat is the week where block leave ends and a few more days to the event. I came back and at that time, my invoices are all done up already. Then Tanya asked me help and the instructions given wasn't clear. So I tell her, I do up a mock up one and let her see.. She say ok.. Then there are some mistakes. She snub at me again. She asked me know how to do a not. If don't know then don't do. She can do it herself. I was quite angry, I trying to help and she snub at me. If she can do it herself then why ask for help. Since there can't be any mistake to be made then ask a person totally never do before to do. They bound to be some error one lo.
Shu Hua:
She really too much leh.. How can she treat you like that? She work here quite long and still dunno. I thought she always smiling and cheerful but I never know she like that one. Somemore the Lena, I also dun really like her. Your boss employ her just because Wei Yong bring her in. Then still got anymore issues and how you want us to help you?
Me:
Another issue is at the day before the exhibition. Lena asked me to give food vouchers to some association. Then I see got yellow and green. So I asked her. She tell me yellow one for sat and green one for sun. But when distributed out, got one aunty called and tell me she got the wrong date one. I called and tell my boss about it. He say ok tomorrow they come ask them to exchange. So it seems to be settled. But no lo.. The next day is the event. People take the wrong one in to change. Lena saw the mistakes then she go report to boss.. Then she say I sent the wrong one out. But I blame it on her. Then I kanna say to be blame thrower by boss.. I totally dun feel good lo.
I hope to have a transfer in department as I don't really like working with this bunch of people.
Shu Hua:
Ok no worries. I try to talk to Sharon ya. But u gonna wait awhile for Pamela. Try tell her what she facing and Dun mention the people name involved. It will get you into trouble. I talk to you after that. See how can I help ya. Relax ok. Cheers~

Shu Hua:
Pam, this is Renee. She's here to see you.
Pam:
Hi Renee, come into my office and take a seat.
(Follows her in)
Pam: (after settling her stuff)
Renee, I heard there are some issues among you, Tanya and Lena. May I know when did you join the company?
Me:
Ya there is a few.
On 8 Dec 08.
What issues have you heard about they and me? Sorry to ask coz I wanna know before I tell my side of story.
Pam:
Its ok Renee. Its like you have joined the company at the wrong period of time as its the busiest period of your team. I know there should someone to guide you but they are too busy with their work and I think you should be more understanding. Do you like to share with me what did you face?
Me:
I know its the busy period for my team because of the 50+ project. But I am still quite new and have not much experiences. There are quite a number of times I tried ask my team members about how should certain things being done, but all I get was either silence, dunno, not free, on the phone or go ask boss. Is this what they meant they are trying to help or protect me?
Pam:
I understand Renee. But the team members whom you referring to is Tanya or Lena?
Me:
Both. (This is the voucher prob, so I summerize it) Another thing that I am unhappy about is that when problem is surfaced and its their fault. But I got to know it before they do. So I told my boss my about it. In the end, they say I pushed the blame to them.
Pam, am I employ here to be a blame carrier or clear my team members' shit?
Pam:
Renee, I understand how you feeling. Maybe you have very deep misunderstanding with your team members.
I would like say my point of view is that this team is not suitable for you. They may have high expections on you. How would you want us to help you?
Me:
I would like to have a transfer in dept.
Pam:
For now all the dept head count are full.. I suggest best is you find a new job.
Me:
But is not very fair for me right. I have to lose a job just because my colleagues don't like me and I have to pay the agency just because I don't want the job.
Pam:
There's no win-win situation for you. I only can help you talk to your agency and let them know that it's not 100% your fault and they should not collect any fee penalty from you.
Me:
What not 100% my fault? What did I do wrong? Can tell me a not?
Pam:
Your team members say that you didn't do your invoices properly. That's your fault right.
Me:
Can you please check whether I got do my things properly before accusing me?
Pam:
Ok since you do not have any fault. I try to talk your boss and see how can we help you. I will let you tomorrow morning.
Me:
Ok thanks. But another thing is regarding my block leave. As the company was close for 2 weeks in end Dec, my team was entitled 5 days of leave. I would like to clear it. But I wasn't allowed to.
I was told by hr angie that my team is advised to clear our leave by end jan. If we do not clear our leave, 2 days will be deducted on the days after CNY which is 28 and 29 Jan. While the 3 days will be brought forward to Feb and we must clear it before Feb ends.
But I wanted to clear on this Thurs and Fri (22 and 23 Jan) and next week Wed - Fri (28 - 30 Jan). But my boss doesn't allow it. Could you please advise me?
Pam:
Renee, I can't really meddle too much into your dept tiny witty things. If I meddle too much, later other dept will ask me to meddle with theirs then isn't it making me very busy.
Renee, you must talk to your boss about this. I can't help you much. Letting you go on leave is up to him.
Me:
But CNY is a period where family get together. He want everyone to work till Fri but I already got my ticket to go back Malaysia. Isn't it very unreasonable of him not letting me go and enjoy my holiday with my family?
Pam:
Renee, I understand how you feel. But I think now your dept is still busy. So they need your help.
Me:
I actually wanna take leave from 19 Jan - 23 Jan. But he rejected. My parents had been unhappy that they have to go back Malaysia with me joining them later. Now I just wanna take a few days before and after CNY do spend sometime with my family, somemore this 5 days leave are entitled to me. Please do stand in my shoes and think. My boss thinking may not be wrong. My thinking may not be wrong. But I hope you put yourself into our shoes and think before you make any decision.
Pam:
Alright Renee. I try to talk to CH and I will get back to you.
Me:
Ok sure. Thanks for helping and your listening ear.
(Walk out of her room and headed over to Melanie)
Melanie:
Renee how's everything?
Me:
Nah Still surviving. Where's the contract of the exhibitiors I need?
Melanie:
Here they are. Btw I heard Kess and Tanya talking about you to CH. Think they are the ones who complaint you to HR. They are so evil hearts.
Me:
Hmm.. Just let them be. See how much they can say and I not going to bother.
(Shu Hua pass-by)
Shu Hua:
Renee, how's the talk between you and Pam? Wanna show her _|_ ma?
Me:
Wah!! Hehe.. Ya feel like to lo. Coz everything sounds like she talking in her stand.
Shu Hua:
I also don't like working for her. Planning to quit in a 2 -3 months. Hope to save enough for my uni this July.
Me:
Oh best of luck ya. Hmm.. I now thinking about my leave. CH doesn't want to approve. Super sian.
Shu Hua:
Don't worry. Just tell him. He should be understanding one lo.
Me:
Ok ba. Update you again. Thanks for all the help. Hehe.. I got to go lunch with my temp staff.

After here, I didn't talk to anybody. Do my work and all. Work till 6.15pm due to I am late today. Ya like drag myself to work. Hai tomorrow another day before my leave starts. I will try to do all my stuff by tomorrow so that Thurs I can have my FULL DAY LEAVE. I want to enjoy CNY instead of let this stupid dept spoil my mood. :)
